Apparently word on the street is Cobra Lounge actually has some delicious food, and after a quick discussion, David and I landed on splitting the “bucket of meat.” Pretty sure that’s not what it was actually called, but that’s what was brought to our table. Kendra came and picked me up to head to David’s for a quick pre-game drink before we all hoped in a Lyft, bound for the show.

Which meant instead of a Double Big Gulp full of whiskey, I settled for a Super Big Gulp. Night one of War on Xmas was on a school night, so I had to take it (relatively) easy. The bad thing about having a three day party like this in the city I live in is that, well, I live here. Now in it’s third year of existence, the War on Xmas is Double Door-less (R.I.P.) for the first time, opting instead to split time between smaller Cobra Lounge for the first night, and the Bottom Lounge for the next two. And of course, The War on Xmas in December. With my new residency comes the opportunity to attend new shows without having to take time off work and fly halfway across the country.

I decided right then and there, I’m moving to this fucking town.Ĭut to two years later and here I am, an official Chicago resident. I looked up and saw two kids on the train station above, laughing as they rained down snowballs on the unsuspecting smokers below. As I stood out in the cold exhausted from three days of non stop partying, something wet and cold hit me square in the face, knocking the cigarette from my hand. It had been a whirlwind few days filled with plenty of Malört, a metric shit ton of good friends, and The Lawrence Arms. I needed a break from the sweaty mess that was happening inside.

I would highly (HIGHLY) recommend Kristin and her team to anyone looking to work with a consummate, knowledgeable professional that delivers results. His speech development has grown leaps and bounds and we have seen positive changes in both his eating and sleeping habits since he began with Miller Therapy. He has made exceptional improvements under her care. She sets clear, attainable objectives and supplies us with all the directives and materials needed for my son to continue progressing each week. Beyond her extensive knowledge base, she is kind, patient, encouraging and makes every effort to meet my son where he is at. Kristin has certainly exceeded our high expectations. (This is important for anyone looking to improve speech pre and post tie release surgery and makes surgery outcomes much more successful). Our surgeon noted that she was the best speech therapist he had ever come across and that she understood could properly address complex speech cases due to multiple factors. We were referred to her through our oral surgeon as we developed a plan to address speech restrictions due to his narrow palette along with a tongue and lip tie. Working with Kristin has been life changing for my son. “We cannot, as a family, say enough wonderful things about Miller Therapy LLC. I will never forget hearing, “I can help you.” and how much that has truly helped changed my son’s life. There is no way my son would have made this same progress without this practice stepping in. This practice truly cares about your children and goes the extra mile in terms of support. I was given support on questions to ask doctors, when to do follow-ups, and what should come next. She even went so far as to build my son a custom Zoom agenda and would sprinkle in mini games, mini songs, and use a photo of his favorite stuffed animal to be part of the session party. And how do you keep a 4-year old boy full of energy entertained while also teaching him? Georgia did, every time. She not only made sure every session had tangible tips for me to work on, but she even mailed me items to help his progress at home. Georgia and she treated our son with so much love and support. We did in person sessions, we did Zoom sessions, and regardless of the setting, this practice wow’d me every single time. She was kind, compassionate, and most importantly, told me she would be willing to help. I told Kristin my concerns and all the brick walls I experienced along the way. Desperate and defeated, I contacted Kristin Miller Therapy. They were not able to work with my son, offering a variety of reasons why he did not need their services. I contacted multiple therapists and explained my son’s challenges. “My son not only was speech delayed but also had challenges with tongue mobility and keeping saliva in his mouth.
